Criteria & methodology

Clear, rigorous and independent

The FundHub Awards are guided by clear and rigorous criteria to ensure fairness, transparency, and excellence in recognising outstanding contributions within the South African investment industry.

An Advisory Committee of senior industry stakeholders, rotating every two years, works alongside The Collaborative Exchange to validate nominations, ensuring the awards maintain the highest standards of integrity.

Retail unit trusts

  • Fund size above R500 million in assets under management
  • Category stability: No ASISA category change in the past three years
  • Open to passive and active funds, including DFMs and multi-managers via a retail unit trust
  • Retail fee classes only, available on at least two investment platforms
  • Measured on straight-line performance

Retail hedge funds

  • Fund size above R150 million in assets under management
  • Category stability: No ASISA category change in the past three years
  • An award is granted only where at least five funds qualify in the category
  • Retail fee classes only, available on at least one investment platform
  • Straight-line performance with a risk-adjusted overlay

Linked investment service providers

  • FSCA-registered and licensed LISP under FAIS Category III
  • At least three years of operational data
  • At least R5 billion in administered assets
  • Access to a minimum of 50 ASISA-approved CIS funds
  • Selected by an industry survey of The Collaborative Exchange database on a 7-point scale
